During the Fall 2018 Film Production window, at Asbury University, many short-films were made. One film, Rise and Grind, was crewed by a group of Juniors that refer to themselves as “The DFP Squad.” The DFP Squad is made up of four Juniors; Madi Baldwin, Tory McKinley, Tim McCune, and Renner Clements. They filled out the roles of Director, Producer, Cinematographer, and 1st Assistant Director respectively.
This group of friends met in an unlikely place, the summer session of the Multicam Class. All four of these students wanted to try to get ahead of some of the required classes in the Media Comm Major’s Film emphasis. During Multicam the four students did not immediately hit it off, however, the next semester, in Digital Field Production the four students realized that they would be taking many classes together and all became friends. After working on each other, final DFP projects, the four decided to work on each other's films for the next two semesters.
At the beginning of this semester, the group decided to all work together again. All of the members signed on to the film that Madi Baldwin was directing Rise and Grind. Both Madi and Tim also signed on to the film Renner Clements was directing, Charity Case. At the end of the semester, the four students all went back to the Miller building’s Television studio to remember how far they had grown sense summer Multicam.
